The short answer

Fly direct from Manchester to Kraków (about 2h 30m–2h 45m) with Ryanair, Jet2 or easyJet. At Kraków Airport, take the train from the station linked to the terminal to Kraków Główny (about 17–20 minutes), then walk about 10 minutes to the Main Market Square.

Market essentials

The main market sits in Rynek Główny, the Main Market Square in the Old Town.

Dates

Usually opens around the last week of November and runs through December, with stalls often staying into the New Year period. 2026 dates hadn't been confirmed when we checked, so look at Kraków's official city or tourism site before booking.

Opening hours

Stalls usually open about 10:00 to 20:00 daily, with food and drink stalls often open until around 22:00. Hours can differ over Christmas and New Year.

Where

Rynek Główny, the Main Market Square, about a 10-minute walk from Kraków Główny station. Smaller markets pop up nearby, including at Mały Rynek.

What to eat

Look for grilled oscypek (smoked sheep's cheese) with cranberry jam, pierogi, kiełbasa sausage, zapiekanki and grzaniec (mulled wine or beer). Entry is free.

Good to know

Kraków is cold in December, often around freezing, so pack warm layers and proper shoes for the cobbles. Poland uses the złoty (PLN), though cards are widely accepted.
